Download and install the SDK

The current version of the Desktop SDK is 16.0. This version supports 64-bit SDK.

• Version 16.0 continues to support QuickBooks Desktop 2002 and later, including QuickBooks 2023(R3 and above) and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Solutions*. For a detailed discussion of version 16.0’s compatibility with QuickBooks Desktop, see Desktop SDK compatibility with QuickBooks releases.

As an alternative to Intuit’s SDK, there are third-party development tools, most of which enable you to integrate an application and QuickBooks without working with the QuickBooks SDK. For more information, see Third-party tools.

The Desktop SDK is a self-extracting installer of approximately 240 MB. You must be logged in to your Intuit Developer account before you can download the installer or merge modules. If you are not logged in, you will be redirected to the sign-in page.

1. To download the Desktop SDK 16.0.0.1, click this link: Desktop SDK 16.0 Installer 64-bit (recommended). For the 32-bit installer, click this link: Desktop SDK 16.0 Installer 32-bit.
2. If the file does not download, read up more answers at Developer Support for Desktop SDK v16.0.

1. If you installed a Beta release, please uninstall it before installing Desktop SDK 16.0.
2. Double-click the downloaded installer.
