What happened to marketplace.intuit.com?

Intuit completely revamped Intuit Marketplace (marketplace.intuit.com), the existing web store for apps that work with the desktop versions of QuickBooks. Both our customers and our developer community has been asking for improvements to this marketplace for some time. We have heard these concerns and have acted upon them. Visits to marketplace.intuit.com now redirect to desktop.apps.com.

I thought you were focusing on SaaS apps and Apps.com. Why are you refreshing the desktop marketplace now, after all this time?

Intuit recognizes that the future of small business accounting is in the cloud. New customers are onboarding to QuickBooks Online faster than ever before, at a much faster rate than the desktop version of our products. Because of this, we are very focused on providing a rich variety of SaaS apps to meet every need of our QuickBooks Online customers in the QuickBooks App Store at apps.com. However, at the same time, we are committed to offering to our existing QuickBooks desktop customers the best app selections to meet their needs. The new “Apps for QuickBooks Desktop” marketplace will do that.

What is the new marketplace be called?

The replacement for the “Intuit Marketplace” (marketplace.intuit.com) is called “Apps for QuickBooks Desktop”. It is found at desktop.apps.com.

When will the new marketplace be available?

The new “Apps for QuickBooks Desktop” marketplace is live now.

What will happen to the old marketplace?

After the new marketplace is launched, visits to marketplace.intuit.com will redirect to desktop.apps.com.

If my app is in the old marketplace, was it automatically rolled into the new one?

No. If you would like your app to be listed in the “Apps for QuickBooks Desktop” marketplace, you will need to resubmit your app for review and approval before it can be listed. Old marketplace reviews and rating will not be migrated.

What are the criteria to be in the new marketplace?

What languages and regions are supported by the new marketplace?

Currently, English is supported for the United States.

Will there be any apps in the marketplace when it launches?

Yes. There will be apps already available in the new marketplace at the time of launch.

What is the difference between “QuickBooks App Store” (apps.com) and “Apps for QuickBooks Desktop” (desktop.apps.com)?
QuickBooks App Store (apps.com) hosts apps that integrate with the SaaS (Online) version of QuickBooks.
Apps for QuickBooks Desktop (desktop.apps.com) hosts apps that integrate with the desktop (Windows) versions of QuickBooks.
How will a customer know which marketplace to use?

The marketplace to use will be determined by the version of QuickBooks that the customer is using.

What are the requirements/process to get the Gold Developer certification from QuickBooks?

The Intuit Developer group no longer uses the Gold and Silver branding for developers and their applications.

Does this site provide marketplace features?

We do not use the marketplace billing and provisioning systems. When a customer clicks on “learn more” they are redirected to te developers own website to execute the transaction

Will my App Card be seen while I am editing it?

Only members of your marketplace company with developer privilege will be able to view and edit your App Card until it has completed the publish process.
