2015 QuickBooks Connect Hackathon Final Round Judges

Over here at Intuit Developer, were busy dotting our is and crossing our ts in the final weeks before QuickBooks Connect and of course, our hackathon. If youre planning on hacking, make sure youve read through the major details including where and when the event will be held, the official rules, and most importantly, what the tracks and hack challenges are so you can prepare your ideas.

But what happens after the coding is done, you’re shaking from the caffeine, youve practiced your pitch to really ‘swing for the fences and youve moved on from the preliminary pitch round – who are the folks that will determine the final winners of the 2015 QuickBooks Connect hackathon?

After Intuit CEO Brad Smith kicks off the Pitch It! event (on Monday evening 11/2, 7pm), finalist hack teams will pitch to this panel of judges:

kaydeeKaydee Peterson

Kaydee Peterson is the owner of Peterson Business Services, a progressive (non-tax) firm specializing in cloud solutions. She is a member of the Intuit Trainer-Writer Network where she assists in peer training, beta testing and certification development. Kaydee hosts a chat hour for School of Bookkeeping, an online continuing education site dedicated to serving the accounting and business community. Her passion for peer training comes from her desire to see business succeed with the right help from their trusted advisors.

benBen Kepes

Ben Kepes is a journalist, technology evangelist, an investor, a commentator and a business adviser. He is the director of Diversity Limited, a business that is a vehicle for his work in investment, advice and consultancy. Ben writes about the convergence of technology, mobile, ubiquity and agility, all enabled by the Cloud. Bens areas of interest extend to aviation technology, enterprise software, software integration, financial/accounting software, platforms and infrastructure as well as articulating technology simply for everyday users.

satyaSatya Patel

Satya Patel is a co-founding Partner of Homebrew, a venture capital firm focused on providing seed capital and operational assistance to entrepreneurs enabling the Bottom Up Economy. Satya was previously VP of Product at Twitter, building and leading the Product Management and User Services teams. Prior to Twitter, Satya was a Partner at Battery Ventures, where he co-led the seed and early stage investing practices, including investments in Groupon and Angies List. Satya joined Google in 2003 and was responsible for AdSense product management and partnerships. Before heading to Silicon Valley for Google, Satya worked for DoubleClick, for two venture capital firms, and as a strategy consultant. He earned his degrees from The University of Pennsylvania.

How will your team and your hack be judged? Read on:

Judging Criteria (Maximum 30 points)

  • Quality and Design 33.3%(0-10 points): How elegant is the design? How well is the QuickBooks platform leveraged? How deep is the integration?
  • Impact: 33.3%(0-10 points): How effective is the app at addressing the specific customer pain point? Can the team demonstrate proof points with real customer feedback?
  • Innovation: 16.7%(0-5 points): How innovative is the solution? Are there similar solutions in the market? How is this different?
  • Simplicity: 16.7% (0-5 points): Ease of use of app, and ease of understanding of app purpose. Is the application straightforward to use and is the UX/UI easy to use and appealing? Can the team explain it clearly?
