What regions are currently supported in the sandbox environment?

The QuickBooks Online Plus sandbox supports the following regions - The AU, CA, FR, IN, UK, and US regions are supported.

The QuickBooks Online Advanced sandbox is only supported for US region

How many sandboxes can I create?

Your Intuit Developer account comes automatically provisioned with a private US sandbox environment for testing your app’s features and integration. You can have up to nine additional sandboxes distributed as you like between QuickBooks Online Plus SKU (across the AU, CA, FR, IN, UK, and US development regions) and QuickBooks Online Advanced SKU (US only).

Can I use my production keys to access my sandbox companies?

No, sandbox companies can only be accessed via the development keys. Production keys only work with production QuickBooks companies.

What is the throttle limit on requests to the sandbox?

Each app can make 500 requests per minute before getting throttled.

Why do I see the same company’s sandbox regardless of which company I click on?

You cannot use the same browser to simultaneously open multiple QuickBooks Online sandboxes, live production accounts, or a combination of the two. Additionally, for a given browser and regardless of which one you select, your sandbox environment is defaulted to the last sandbox opened or, if none has been opened, the last sandbox on the list. Can I access my sandboxes and my production QuickBooks Online in the same browser instance?

Can I reset sandbox data to its original contents?

Resetting sandbox data is not supported.

Can I delete a sandbox?

Yes, you can delete a Sandbox company. Under ‘Action’ dropdown on the Manage your sandboxes page, you can see the ‘Delete Sandbox’ option. Deleting a Sandbox company will delete all data for this Sandbox company and remove it from the Sandbox companies list.

Can I delete the sandbox data set?

Yes, under ‘Action’ dropdown on the Manage your sandboxes page, you can see the ‘Delete sandbox data’ option. The operation deletes the original data set and all data added via the UI and the QuickBooks Online API.

Why do I get error messages about duplicate objects when adding data after deleting the sandbox data set?

After the sandbox data set has been deleted, vestiges of it remain in the session cache. Because of this, you may get an error message about duplicate objects when repopulating your sandbox with the same data. Sign out and sign back in to sandbox.qbo.intuit.com to force the cache to be flushed.

Why do I see an empty page when I enable Payroll in a QuickBooks sandbox company?

Payroll is not supported by QuickBooks sandbox companies.

Why do I see an error when I try to add a bank account?

Adding bank accounts is not supported in QuickBooks sandboxes.

Can I import and export data from QuickBooks sandbox companies?

Exporting and importing data is not supported.

For how long can I use a sandbox company?

A sandbox company is valid for two years. Once it expires, you will see a popup saying that your subscription has been canceled. If you see this popup before two years, you can close it and go to the company settings to resubscribe. If it has already been two years, you will not be able to resubscribe, and you will be asked for payment info. In this case, you can no longer use the sandbox and will need to create a new one.

What QuickBooks Online plans do the sandboxes support?

All sandboxes are created under QuickBooks Online Plus and/or QuickBooks Online Advanced SKU. We currently do not provide sandboxes for other products like Simple Start, Essentials, etc.
